If you enjoy The New Fly Fisher television series, then you'll love our new Ezine! The mission of The New Fly Fisher online magazine is to enhance your fly fishing experience by presenting information on the techniques, destinations and the unique heritage of fly fishing & fly tying in an exciting and visually enhanced format.
Far more than a print magazine that is turned into a pdf file – The New Fly Fisher ezine is specifically designed to provide you with a rich multi-media experience. From beautiful photography to detailed animations - to video, every article in the ezine is designed to help you learn. It will explain why large brown trout are spooky in relation to other species or why small streams are such precious and fragile environments; teach you more about entomology and ecology; how a graphite or cane rod is designed and built; why leaders are constructed a certain way and which cast will help you to compensate for difficult water currents.
In each issue show hosts such as Bill Spicer, Phil Rowley, Brian Chan or Colin McKeown write about something new and interesting in fly-fishing. Other writers include well-known fly-fishing celebrities and regional experts, as well as little-known fly fishers who understand a specific water system or tactic that we can all learn from. We're taking a 3-dimensional approach to magazine presentation - clear and concise instruction, stunning photography, and imbedded videos to take you right to the heart of the story.

 Colin McKeown –Publisher/TV Host. Colin has been a fisherman since he was a young boy. A veteran of 20 years service in the military, Colin has been passionate about fly fishing for over 20 years. Colin started The New Fly Fisher television series in 2000. His goal was, and continues to be, helping fly fishers everywhere by giving them a top-quality fly fishing series that will make them better anglers. Chris Marshall -Editor. Chris has been an outdoors writer and editor for over twenty years, and is a member of the Outdoor Writers of Canada. His articles have appeared in magazines in Canada, the US, Britain, and Australia; he's the author of Fly Fishing Across Canada, and has run successful fly fishing schools. He was twice awarded the Gregory Clark Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Arts of Fly Fishing for publishing The Canadian Fly Fisher, Canada's first national fly fishing magazine.
Bill Spicer - Bill is the host of The New Fly Fisher television show and is a regular writing contributor to The New Fly Fisher Ezine with his casting articles. He has traveled extensively throughout North America fly fishing for most species including saltwater. Bill is a passionate angler and a fixture on most area streams and at symposiums, both lecturing and at tying tables. He has a great love for casting and would sometimes rather teach than fish. Bill’s easy going nature and his ways of making his students understand has given him a reputation as a teacher's teacher. His love is stalking trout in cold water streams of southern Ontario and eastern United States, but his specialty is migratory steelhead and salmon.
Phil Rowley - Phil has written for almost every major fly-fishing publication in North America. His contributions also include books and numerous feature articles including 2 regular columns on fly-fishing and fly tying. Phil's first book Fly Patterns for Stillwaters has become a best seller. In early 2004 Phil, along with Brian Chan, released Stillwater Solutions, a signature line of fly tying materials and products in partnership with Superfly. Phil travels western North America performing at outdoor shows, teaching a variety of seminars, speaking to fly clubs and conducting weekend fly-fishing schools.  Tom Rosenbauer - Tom has been with the Orvis Company for 34 years, and while there has been a fishing school instructor, copywriter, public relations director, merchandise manager, and was editor of The Orvis News for 10 years. He is currently Marketing Director for Orvis Rod and Tackle. Tom is credited with bringing Bead-Head flies to North America, and is the inventor of the Big Eye hook, Magnetic Net Retriever, and tungsten beads for fly tying. He has ten fly fishing books in print, including The Orvis Fly-Tying Guide, which won a 2001 National Outdoor Book Award .Tom is the writer and narrator of "The Orvis Fly-Fishing Guide Podcast,” one of the top outdoor podcasts on ITunes |
Brian Chan - Brian has been a professional fisheries biologist for almost 30 years where much of his work has focused on managing litera lly hundreds of small stillwater's that dot the southern interior region of BC. Brian's love of fly-fishing has led to the development of a secondary career as an author, lecturer and video producer. Some of Brian's writing credits include Fly Fishing Strategies for Stillwaters and Morris and Chan on Fly Fishing Trout Lakes. For over 15 years, Brian has conducted stillwater fly fishing strategy seminars, as well as being a regular speaker at Federation of Fly Fisher conclaves, sportsmen's expositions and fly-fishing club functions.
WHERE TO FIND THE NEW FLY FISHER TV SHOW
The New Fly Fisher is now broadcast on the popular New England sports network, NESN, every weekend. The show broadcasts every Saturday and Sunday at 12:30pm. NESN is broadcast into the following states: Maine, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts. It's also carried on satellite on DirectTV (Channel 628) and DishTV (Channel 434 & 5434 NESNHD)
A new season of The New Fly Fisher began broadcasting on WFN in January. WFN, World Fishing Network, is the only 24/7 television network dedicated to all segments of fishing. WFN and WFN HD are available in more than 20 million households through North American cable, satellite and telecommunications distributors.
The New Fly Fisher is extremely proud to be broadcast by Public Television (PBS) throughout the United States and into Canada. Over 120 stations carry the series reaching in excess of 50 million households.
